Last week we talked about using web coupons to promote your business and generate more revenue.  This week we are going to look at 4 creative ways to get your coupons in front of your potential and current customers.

  1. Coupon-based pay-per-click and banner ad campaigns.  Once you have a coupon tracking system in place, you can add coupon codes to your pay-per-click, Facebook and banner-traffic ad purchases.  Having a coupon code in front of customers at the first contact with them is often enough to drive them to click your ad instead of a competitor's.
  2. Coupon Newsletters.  According to a November 2009 report from Experian, having a coupon offer in the subject line of an e-mail increased the open rate from 18 to over 24 percent.  Begin offering coupons in your company newsletter that goes to current customers and online subscribers.  Have your visitors register for a free newsletter when they visit different category pages on your website.  Offer coupons in the newsletter on a regular basis.
  3. Discount RSS feeds.  RSS feeds are a great way to track news, information and deals.  Offer visitors a coupon RSS feed from your website.  Consumers can add this feed to their RSS aggregator and receive your offers on a regular basis.
  4. Promote your offer on coupon sites.  There are more than 300 websites that allow you to post coupons for free.  You simply post your coupon codes on these websites and consumers seek them out, driving traffic to your site.  Some of the most popular coupon sites are:
    • CouponCabin.com.  This site keeps its discounts fresh by having its employees regularly test the coupons to make sure they are valid.
    • CouponMom.com.  This website lists online coupon codes, printable coupons, and free samples.  While other coupon sites are often plastered with banner ads, CouponMom's simple design makes finding discounts simple and easy for consumers.
    • Coupons.com offers as wide a variety of coupons as you can find in your Sunday newspaper.  The site is simple to navigate and find coupons for online or in-store use.
    • RetailMeNot.com is a collaborative coupon and deal-hunting site with over 300,000 discounts at 40,000 online stores.  Consumers rate coupons as to their usefulness, ensuring the best deals rise to the top and expired coupons drop off.
Next week we will look at four more wasy to get your coupons noticed.
