Today, businesses have a lot more options when it comes to communicating with customers and prospects.  Businesses also have to be conscious of the fact that consumers are increasingly bombarded with messages from friends, family and businesses through lots of channels - e-mail, TV and display advertising.  So what is the best way to communicate that will provide rapid results?  The answer is mobile.

Using SMS Text for Business

Mobile opportunities abound for business - from relaying corporate communications, to supporting customer acquisition and retention - mobile works.  As mobile access grows - virtually every consumer over 13 has a mobile phone and over 98% of those phones have SMS Text capability - new mobile devices and applications will appear.

An example of mobile marketing in use - XYZ Restaurant sends out a text at 8am to their mobile list with a coupon code for that day only to get a discount at their restaurant on lunch (free slice of pizza with drink and salad, 20% off your entire order, free appetizer with meal purchase, etc.).  The customer receives the text, decides to have lunch at XYZ Restaurant and shows them their mobile coupon when they order.  No paper to buy, coupon to clip, just direct to consumer marketing that works.  Now XYZ Restaurant knows what customers are interested in what products to better market to them in the future.

Example two, is XYZ Restaurant using SMS Text for their dinner clients who are waiting for tables.  Instead of spending thousands of dollars to purchase a customer wait system (computerized home station with disks giving to customers who are waiting for a table that notify them when the table is ready) that only works within a few yards of their business, tying their customer to a small wait radius, they use SMS Text.  When a customer is put on the wait list, the customer gives their cell number to the hostess who will text them when their table is ready (if the customer's phone does not support text, the hostess can call them).  The customer is then free to go anywhere in town while they are waiting, making them a happier customer and XYZ Restaurant happy because they did not have to spend thousands of dollars on a wait system.

Example three is ABC Company wanted to do a Text to win campaign, where clients would text a Keyword (Mobile) to a short code, 23756 (a shortened phone number). to win six months free SMS Text Services (valued at $600).  They could structure it to have one winner, every Xth responder wins, or everyone wins or the first 10 win.  ABC Company now knows what customers are interested in SMS Text services to better market to them in the future.

There are multiple opportunities with SMS Text Marketing, a few of which we have covered here.  Watch for Xstreme Mobile, our new Mobile Division, which will be launching in January 2011.  We wil have SMS Text Marketing and Mobile websites for business.
