If you didn't know, Facebook has over 500 million users, 50 percent of which log on every day! More than 10 million users become fans of Pages each day. Do you have a Page for your business?
Facebook's internal search engine is how existing clients and potential prospects will most likely find you. To dominate in Facebook search results you must understand how individual items are ranked on the site. Pages are ranked first and foremost by the number of fans, although freshness, keyword density (title and description), and proximity to the searcher also influences rankings. The rankings of Facebook Groups is also based on the number of fans/members, although Facebook does crawl titles and descriptions.
Events are another possible item you might find on Facebook search results, usually ranked by the proximity to the searcher. Make sure to include the location in the title of the event, as this is essential for higher rankings.
Facebook will be giving its internal search some much needed attention as time goes on, and since much of its content is blocked from search engine bots/spiders, it is important that you optimize your presence on Facebook right away.
