Another thing to consider when preparing an email campaign is how may people will veiw it on their smartphone. There are a few rules of thumb to optimize your emails for any platform:
- Avoid having too many links close together, becuase they are hard to click on from a smartphone.
- Use single-column layouts where possible, especially for eblasts that are for special offers or coupons.
- Offer an online/mobile version of your email to view online. Place this link at the very top of the email.
Consider using autoresponder information when people sign up for your newsletter. This feature sends follow up emails to subscribers at targeted times (30 days from signup , 60 days from signup, etc.) that contain non-time-sensitive material to keep your company or organization top of mind.
One last tip is not to abuse your subscribers. Overuse will cause people to un-subscribe unless there is a reason to send out daily updates and the subscriber knows that up front. Usually once a week is plenty for email communication. Here's to a successful email campaign.
